Young children often express themselves best through play – their natural language for exploring the world, processing emotions, and making sense of their experiences.

Play therapy provides a safe and nurturing environment where children aged 3 to 6 can explore their feelings, develop healthy coping strategies, and build emotional resilience – all through the power of play. At The Resilience Room, our play therapy sessions are grounded in child-centred and developmentally appropriate approaches. Using toys, art, storytelling, and creative expression, we help children work through emotional or behavioural challenges in a way that feels safe and supportive.

As part of the play therapy journey, it is important that we see the parents of the child first without the child being present. This initial session allows us to gather important background information, understand your child's developmental and emotional history, learn about any concerns you may have, and assess the family dynamics that may be influencing your child's behaviour. It also gives you the opportunity to ask questions about the therapeutic process and clarify goals. This helps ensure that therapy is as effective and supportive as possible for your child.
